there should be a little slack in the tracks as they go over the top rollers

That's good news in the sense that if the sprocket shaft does not have excessive play, then the damage will hopefully be limited. Could you check the final pinion shaft for play, particularly in the direction parallel to the line of contact between the pinion and the sprocket shaft driven gear. For the contact to be insufficient to drive forwards, given that the reverse side of the drive is still intact, tells me that the teeth are still full height (is that correct?), so if the sprocket shaft does not move, then the pinion must for it to be unable to drive the big gear. Could you post some more photos or even better a video showing you levering both gears to/fro, up/down, in/out?

Cheers,
Neil

I'm thinking maybe some of the teeth are gone on the steering clutch discs, some slip and some grab. If your not hearing any grinding or clunking noises from the final drive.

Tightening the tracks on this one won’t help. Can’t get the Bluetooth sprockets to engage. It is finally getting repaired. Ugh. JM

you can see that sprocket has done some work and is a bit worn. one of the chapters reproduces a set of the cat track measuring guages that takes all the important track wear measurements. track sprockets can be rebuilt with replacement rims. another member even replace his without dismantling the assembly. as you have worn final drive parts it would be worthwhile taking the sprocket off and replacing the worn rim while you have it apart.

That sprocket looks near new to me. Changing it out would be pointless.
