Hi, Folks.
Cat did a bit of experimenting with twin bowl scrapers:

Can you imagine the PSI on the ground with that rig fully loaded?

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Pressure coming from LeTournea's massive two and three bowl configurations for the really large earthmoving projects of the day like the Interstate highway construction and mining industry. Sort of like the massive Komatsu D575 dozers that were recently discontinued that were bigger than the D11s...just not enough market share to go around.

I'd say it's a testament to the tires themselves...they don't look any larger than a normal 657 and they're carrying twice the weight when loaded. I wonder if these were ever more than experimental...did they ever get put out with contractors for early product development?

Very interesting stuff.

Hi, d9gdon.
From what I can gather, I don't think they ever made it past the experimental stage. They would not have been very manoeverable with that one-piece double bowl.

I suspect that the main reason the 'kummagutsa' D575s were discontinued is that they seemed to be made mainly of 'Fall-ter-bitsium'. One contractor over in Western Australia had FOUR of them in their yard for quite a while and I was told that it was 'coz they couldn't keep them running.

No credit to this mob:

for that as their parts and service backup seems to be a tad less than 'optimum' - if you get my drift.
