I have a couple no 44 hydraulic control units. I need more pressure on one of my Cats. The 44 is factory set at 1000 psi. What will happen when I up the relief pressure to 2500 psi? Pump case split? Vanes bind and self destruct? Everything works perfectly?
Thoughts?

Anything that you have listed, and/or hydraulic lines bursting and/or control valves and cylinders going out. I won't be cranking it higher as design specs for the rest of the hydraulics would have been done with that 1000 psi max in mind

Everything outside of the control unit will be rated for 3k psi. Just need a pump to give a little (lot) more than stock.

better off mounting a modern pump on there that way everything is made for that load. it will also be easier to fix if something goes wrong due availability of parts etc. and max pressure on a type 44 is 1200psi working pressure is a 1000.
a modern pump can also give you better flow performance too.
