Hi,
After some advice, I have a 1947 D2 that suddenly lost drive when trying to turn to the left. It tracks ahead straight on flat ground but when trying to go up a hill or push dirt the right track loses power or stops driving all together. The steering clutches have been adjusted to spec and not made any difference. The clutch pack measures up at roughly 3". The only thing I can find is that the steering brake lining is cracked and worn it also has a rivet come loose. See attached photos

Are your steering clutch discs contaminated? How did you come up with the measurement for the clutch pack? Weak/broken clutch springs may not help either. If you have things apart, you may as well repair it; depending on your situation, some folks just add enough steel/fiber discs to compensate for worn discs. Show us the photos please. JM

A possibility is a sheared pinion shaft on the right side final drive

Did the tractor move when you pulled the right friction lever to full release (all the way back)?

No disc are not contaminated, the measurement came from specifications in the serviceman book of minimum width of clutch plates 2 19/32 in

The clutch has to come out of the tractor to get a measurement of clutch pack, I thought?
I have had old springs that provided enough push to drive until in a hours time they would not. Yes I am sure there was slipping before but on side hill and rough ground doing tillage it was not obvious until I pulled one lever and it stopped on a up hill pull. So my guess is it needs to come apart and inspect parts and replace those in need of it.
