A D-2 Cat was on FB Market place and advertized as a 1955. The serial is 7XXX and it is a 1951. It is near Brookfield, NY. the fellow selling it had left water in the engine one winter so it has water in the engine oil. I found the pins and bushings worn pretty bad. At least 75 % or more. I walked away. Just though I may save some of you a trip if your looking at it. I would have bought it for the undercarrige if it was in better shape.

Hi Dave, I wish it was a 55 because I'm part-time looking for replacement track frames for my '53 5U13753, which has the longer track frames. A 7xxx will be the shorter frames unfortunately. Did it have track frame covers on it by any chance?

Cheers,
Neil

Not the front covers. Only the ones over the springs. It also had a crude farm built blade on it. He said it steered both ways when he had it running a few years ago before the engine froze. I did not bother with pulling the steering clutch levers too see if there was any resistance, or trying the brakes just to see if there was any meat on them. It did have a lot of meat on the grousers, But a hole cut in every one like it was used to push snow at one time. It also had a PTO. It did not have the big cover for the master clutch like the later D2's. The pins and bushings were never turned but they are well beyond that point now. Serial numbers did match.
