END BITS FOR 212 ROAD GRADER

Anyone have a source for End Bits for a 212 Road Grader.  Cat Dealer gave me the part number 9J4411, but the part has been discontinued.  Even Cat used has none available.  Florin shows nothing,  Machinery trader nothing  An internet search has come up with nothing available.  Most that list the part number show the item as OUT OF STOCK .

The end bits are .5 inches thick, 6 inches wide, and 14.438 inches long with 4 holes.  The first hole from the top is 1 1/2 inches from the top, and the other three holes are 4 inches  apart center to center.  I would like to find the correct part but would consider cutting a longer end bit down and filling in the existing holes with weld and redrilling the holes in the moulboard to fit.  Thanks   Brian Boaz

www.hlmesabi.com/ try these guys out. They have gotten me some very obscure end bits thru the years. If they cant find it they will custom build them.

Replied by bboaz on topic END BITS FOR 212 ROAD GRADER
Kracked1, Called your contact, hllmesabi.com and the gentleman I talked to said he would attempt to find the parts. I haven't heard back from him. I also got a message from Jolene Burggraff, Market Director for equipmentblades.com, who priced the bits for $109.62 each from her manufacturer, at 120 days out. With todays manufacturing problems, I can understand that, but sometimes a bird in hand is better than a bird in the bush, so I ask her to order them. We will see how that turns out. In the mean time, i am going to attempt to make a couple of end bits out of some large 1/2 inch pipe I have. I can punch square holes with my Iron Worker, and countersink them so the plow bolts fit just like the regular end bits. The radius is about the same so they should be easy to fit up. They won't be hard like the regular end bits but they will protect the moulboard. For the use this machine will see they might last as long as Ineed them to. Brian Boaz

It is great to hear a solution has been found. As you said your home-made ones may last forever.

Thank you for sharing Brian, I will likely need end bits for my 212 in due course, so this is very handy to know!
