Hi, Folks.
Here is a link to a video of the construction of the Geehi Dam in the Snowy Mountains Hydro-electric scheme in New South Wales, Australia.

Starting at 5.25 in the video, there is a smooth drum vibrating being pulled by what I can only think was a crawler tractor, possibly a Caterpillar if the fuel tank is any indication, specially modified for the job.

Any thoughts?

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

I will take a guess at 'Eimco'. The Snowy used a few different orphans from time to time. They had a Kumagutsa swampy cut down for working in the Geehi tunnel, it was just scrap when they finished. Due to tax exemptions so long as the machinery wasn't sold in Oz at completion of projects, a lot of machines were driven or pushed into pits and buried.
I had many a trip with my father recovering scrap steel etc to build things on the farm, we drove into lots of places that you cant access now days.

My first thought was Eimco. The only one to put the operator out front that I can think of.

I cannot see using a Eimco for brush and tree clearing. Yes I have sat in the seat on one. You did have good view of the blade though. My uncle was going to get one running, but somebody else came looking for it before that happened.

I believe this one was used for canal bank cleaning in the San Joaquin valley of California. As they where reputed to be the most sable dozer on a steep slope.
