Hello all. I am relatively new to the old cat business. I'd just like to say
I've learned a lot following this board the past few years.
I am currently working on three d-4's. I'll post a few photos as soon
as I figure out how to resize them

welcome waukman!
Sounds like you're a D4 specialist so far. Watch out, the yellow iron disease gets worse over time, and before you know it you'll be looking at yellow wheelbarrows:D
Are you planning 3 into 1 or 3 D4's out of the shop?
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

I think I have a handle on pics.
Arnold is a 6u-12xx (repowered with a Perkins ,the guy I got it from
actually had a chevette engine and trans in it)
Bertha is a 7u-218xx all stock except for the delco starter and cylinders.
I havn't found a cheap way yet to add a 24v alternator and still keep the
6vt for the pony. Although it is not much of a hassle to the keep the marine
batteries charged with a seperate charger.
Buford is a 7u-296xx. I've got two liners/rings to change out. A rebuilt engine
at one time but someone forgot to cover the open exhaust
I also have a d4-7j , undecided on this one. cracked head and block.
After four years, I still havn't convinced the wife why I need four dozers.
If she only knew I looked at a couple of d-2's:D

Welcome Waukman, we gotta see some close ups of the "now" Perkins powered Arnold D4 conversion. That has to be an interesting conversion. Thanks for sharing the pics. Don

Welcome Waukman, good to see another michigander here.
Re the wife.
A guy I used to know had a wife that said he could not have more than 5 tractors, He had around 15 john deeres. The key is there was never more than 5 out of the barn at one time. At the time she had not been in his barn for 5 years. Lord help him when she finds out.
