Hi,
I'm trying to find the number of the oil filter cartridge in my R2 6J 1024. The parts book makes no mention of a filter. I am trying to avoid removing the filter and cleaning it to find any number on it. Changing the oil will be one of the last steps before I try to start it after sitting for decades. The R2 sitting for decades, that is!
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Thanks
Pete

That looks to be a later filter upgrade available 6J774-up.
Upgrade is a 9F6430 group originally using a 9F6700 full flow filter canister = Cat 1R0659 = Napa 1161 = Wix 51161

Thanks Old Magnet and Fat Dan. The Napa number will make it easy since they are close by and Caterpillar is about an hour away.

There are a couple of rubber seals in that canister and on the long hold down bolt I would replace, some leak and you find the old rubber is hard and brittle, available from Cat.

Steve,
I got a filter from Napa with two seals. I'll be on the lookout when I remove the filter because the seals appear slightly different. Same diameter and height but one appears thinner than the other. No seal for the bolt though. Thanks for the tip.
