Thanks to fellow member Michael Crowe, I am now the happy owner of D4 6U 1139. Michael was a pleasure to deal with and it was enjoyable to talk old machinery with him.
I parked it in the barn for now, but will be attaching the toolbar soon and doing some subsoiling before freeze around here.
Here's a photo and a link to the

Nice. Another addition to your collection!
I have 1141 or 1411 (I will have to look it up) formerly a 6U, I believe a shortage of tractors made the gentleman farmer buy it, and later had it changed to a wide gauge 7U. I have run across several here in N. California done up similarly. One of these days I will button it up and perhaps give it a facelift.

That looks like a very clean D4. It will look great next to your exceptionally nice D2!!

Mr.Frog has a neat one. I think he pretty much has all of the toolbar goodies with it already from Mr. Crowe? That can be a challenge to find everything, but some have gotten lucky and managed to buy the full deal. Congrats to him for getting another nice tractor to work/play with.
As far as the fuel tank, yes they used to work their equipment days as well as nights. I joke about the lights, as they definitely were not for show. I got my "first" D4 back last week and never realized it has a larger tank as well, except someone lengthened it about a foot. It looks streamlined running the length of the fender.
Hope to see some action videos of Froghair's TB D4 in action and more photos. JM

Nice! Very similar indeed with the exception of the "extended range" tank and the gauge of course!

I have the blade, a single ripper and the mole for the ripper. I do plan to shoot a video setting up the ripper/subsoiler and cutting some roots from around at least one field.

Even though they wouldn't be original, one could retrofit generic cultivator tines and things like JD corn planters which would make for interesting videos
Cheers,

Neil: Most of that stuff looked to be JD Killefer on the majority of the tool bar stuff I see. I want to find one of the retrofitted D-6 9Us that tomato farmers rigged up with a backwards clutivating sled, whereby the operator sat above the radiator so he could see; instead of pulling the sled, it pushed it along. They were adapted from Johnson Farm Machinery units, the same company that built many tomato harvesters.
