Just sharing for those that don’t follow my exploits on FB, YouTube, smoke signals or telegraph:
I didn’t need anymore iron, but some of us know all too well that “one more won’t hurt”.
A fellow ATHS member had a D4 posted for sale for quite some time, so I finally got the nerve to ask him to sell it to me. Needless to say, we finally struck a deal and he still gets visitation rights to see his old 6U.
Saturday turned out to be ideal, as we have had record scorching heat of over 112 degrees here in N. California; at least it was dry heat and not humid!
A second owner machine, it was actually well taken care of considering the high hours it has; started right up and runs very good considering. So, add one to my bucket list of iron and then try to sneak out of the town that I had “poached” it from(sorry Nickywalnuts, he even said you were very good friends). Off to the truck wash for some needed truck spa time and then I went to my satellite yard to fetch an 8U which hadn’t been run since 2017 National at Santa Margarita. Unlike my other tractor that was resting there, the 8U actually still had some gas in the pony tank; a battery and only one spin and she barked to life just like she wanted to be freed from isolation. Good to have them back here. Time to fill up an empty building now. JM
