Hi, trainzkid88.
I think the biggest DowNunda display of old Cat equipment was Kingaroy in 2015 - 102 vintage Cat and Cat related exhibits including a couple of early Russel towed graders. I attended both Oakey and Kingaroy. There was a contracting company from the Northern Gold Coast which was responsible for close to a quarter of the total Cat exhibits and some were non-runners but restoreable.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

deas it was Oakey with 102 and yes most were from the Reis family. i remember it was announced as a record attempt. dad and i where talking to John Reis for a fair while about a few things on our d4. one day i might actually fix the leak on the finals but im not too worried a bit of oil stops the rust.
yes the Kingaroy club put on a good show too. i went a couple of years ago wasnt that much cat stuff when i went though.
a little trivia Sir Joe Bjelkie-Peterson the longest serving premier of qld and national party member pioneered scrub pulling with 2 dozers and a chain in the kingaroy district
his wife lady flo was one of the longest serving senators for qld too and was well known for her pumpkin scone recipe.

Hi, trainzkid88.
So if it was Oakey with 102 Cat exhibits, why did you say they had "over 60" exhibits a few posts back on page 2? Technically correct, I suppose, but not very informative.
I live in sunny Qld - when I am home. A little bit of trivia for you - I don't know when Joe 'Bananas' pioneered scrub pulling in QLD but War Service Land Settlement was doing it around Rocky Gully in Western Australia in about 1949-50. I have also heard that a couple of large steam traction engines were used to pull a cable between them pulling scrub around Esperance in W.A. in the 19-teens.
And yes, 'Lady' Flo was known for her pumpkin scones but not always in the kindest of terms. It has been rumoured that she and Margaret Whitlam were the only two women ever to kick-start a jumbo jet. Paul Hogan reckoned that Maggie Whitlam got her dresses from Bullen Brothers.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Hello Gee, here are some pictures from Chapter 16. Some pictures are of machines in the parade and one is a group picture from our annual meeting. We meet in Vista Ca. at the Vista Gas and Steam Engine Museum. Angelo

D4Jim now you have done it. The Golden Greek aka D4Angelo will post more photos of himself and his knee knocker D4. Crawler$$$ said there was a rumor that the guy was so busy looking at his own reflection on the hood, that he went off course from the parade route! I am waiting to see photos of your gorgeous wife driving one of your gems...
Thanks for the pics Angelo, or thank your daughter for helping post them. JM

Hi JM, I am lucky to get it loaded at all, not sure how I did it! I can send you a better one on the phone. Going out to the ranch for a little D and D today! (Dirt and Diesel) I will send a pic or two if I can remember how to do it again! Tom.
