I just bought a D8 13A, very late in the model run, and it has a bunch of 14A parts on it, hood, dash, diesel air breather, pony start crank on outside of hood, etc. Problem is the decompression set up is missing. All I have is the shaft that sticks out of the head. I have a 13A parts book but not sure if 13A parts will fit. Does anyone have a 14A parts book that can send me a picture of the page dealing with the decompression set up. More helpful yet, does anyone know for sure if the two different models decompression set ups are interchangable? Most helpful would be if anyone has a complete set up for sale!
Also, what size diameter is the exhaust pipe?
I'll post pics tomorrow when I get it unloaded. Thanks. Michael

Compression release arrangements are entirely different. The 13A uses a shaft in the head. The 14A has a shaft in the block

Thanks for the information. I spoke to the guy who loaded it today. It is a 13A with the decompression shaft in the head. With a 14A dash, the 13A linkage will not work as the dash curves forward on the outside edge and the 13A lever will hit the dash.
So I am looking for the bellcrank lever that attaches to the rod coming out of the head, the linkage rod, bellcrank lever and the shaft it attaches to that goes through the dash and attaches to the lever and the casting that bolts to the dash, basically the complete assembly for the 14A decompression setup. If anyone has a setup they would sell, please let me know.

you might have to custom make a lever and linkage as long as it works the decomp mechanism itself it doesn't matter.
