It takes an o-ring, 8B4967, the gasket between the filter housing and pump is 4F5148

It goes around the ferrule, the old o-ring is flattened out. You need to replace the ferrule also. Just clamp a vise-grip on that old ferrule and use a small prybar to force it out.

ok am i correct when i say that the ferrule is 2A3855 ?  your sure its an oring, it looks almost like a weird formed gasket, unless its just been in there for so long that its kind of set up like that now...

I had been warned by many here that the o ring would not look like a o ring coming out. I had a local know it all for help he was good about remembering and had done some boring but exacting tasks such as putting new o ring between the many hydraulic control blocks on a Gleaner sidehill combine . He was not into the internet at all, so taking him inside to read the posts he still would not believe what looked more like a V packing ring from a old hydraulic cylinders could be fixed with a fat o ring. But he finally let me use it and all has been good for 10 years or so. If only he had worried about his own health as much because diabetes got him few years latter at 58.
