hi guys im working on my 1928 caterpillar twenty restoration (L294) i want to take it back to the original grey and red colour and wanted it to be the right grey and red?i found a article online saying (Federal Standard595B-26134) for the grey and (Federal Standard 595B-11120) for the red has anyone used these colours or have any other insight?
i wanted to try and get it right the first time loli can see grey in nooks and crannies and it looks like a battleship grey? darker and little more blue then some i see online
i was planning on stripping the track frames and radiator leaving the finals transmission and motor still assembled then sand blasting and painting?thankspaden

Does the gray change between models in this color scheme time period? Is the paint color on acmoc the end-all color for all early cats?

When I did my 1928 built Cat 2 Ton, I found Battleship Grey to be a excellent match to the original colour.
Good luck with your restoration.

The old paint I found in hidden places on my 2 Ton had more blue in it, definitely was not like the color card, that's why I went with the Battleship Grey.

wow! that looks great! yours and mine might have been in factory together?mine is an early 1928 i believe around the 244th twenty built in San Leandro that year (L294 and i think L1-50 were built in 1927)
it makes sense that we have a similar grey
(i wonder if the grey was different between san leandro and peoria)
(*edit looking the 2 ton up and it looks like its from peoria)
