7U in the 17000 serial number range. A really clean tractor but the engine is stuck and has been for a long time I think. Setting with injectors removed allowing water into engine. Are 7U parts like pistons and sleeves the same as a 9U? What about the injectors? Have a lot of D6 parts but this is my first D4 7U. Any chance that the engine from a 78A would bolt up? Thanks, Mike

parts are available both from cat and aftermarket for your D47U. might check with your dealer and then for any other parts try Florin Tractor.

Yes, a lot of 8U/9U internal parts are the same as the 7U (same bore and stroke) injectors are the same.
The D330A (78A) engine is not going to have provision for the equalizer spring required by the 6U/7U.

Thank you for the info. I was wondering because I think I have a new set of sleeves and pistons stashed away from an earlier deal and I have several 9U parts tractors I can rob parts off of. Might try to get the head pulled off to see what I am actually dealing with. Thanks again, Mike

i was told the d46u7u engine is the same bore and stroke as the d6 of the same era minus 2 cylinders. and that the rockers, pistons, rods, bearings etc are the same with the crank cam heads and block being different.
as these are a wet sleeved engine very easy to rebuild you pull the sleeves and refit new ones and presto its back like new provided the bearing and journals are within spec.

Piston and conrods have different part numbers but the bearings and rings are the same.

Mine was seized up solid. Filling the exhaust with acetone, atf and brake fluid and mine finally freed up and going strong. Slobbered oil bad until I hooked it up to a big disc harrow and plowed some ground.
