I have never come across a short rod, or am confused by the description. Cat or after market sellers of Cat parts should have the long rod for standard Cat fuel filters. I have made the long rod out a piece of welding rod , flat washer welded on one end hole drilled for pin in the other. Up and running in less than hour. It has rusted in this modern diesel fuel , so would be better to replace with the fibrous none metal that used Cat used.
The fuel filters are getting very expensive from all sources, but if you do any business with a NAPA store they have a real good sale on all filters at least once a year, some stores twice.

Been a while, but I seem to remember the 3T had two short rods and two long rods, six filters required. I also seem to remember that the long rods went on the deep side and would not drop into the short side of the filter housing. This is as I recall it. Don't bet on it without checking your machine first.

Depending on your Cat parts man your part numbers need a 0 added so it has enough digits for the computer. As with your first part number of 2F9126 would be 2F09126 (I think but could be 02F9126). I still have dealer that has excepted my old numbers from my paper book.
The original part numbers posted by Kevin should work fine without adding any "0"'s. Your numbers as listed above will not work.If you have a number like 1S123 then it will need a 0 added to make it 1S0123. Serial numbers are a different story.
Kevin did you take a look in SIS? Sometimes typing in the part number into the search box will give you updated part numbers if there are any.

Yeah my manual shows two short and two longs rods but I have 4 short currently. I’m assuming over the years parts got changed around by the mechanic. I’ll search around more for the correct ones. One of my assembly rods broke while cleaning the housing out.
I appreciate the help

2F9126
5B9966
7B8259
Looking at SIS I found the following;
2F9126 = 2F2154
5B9966 also cross references to 2F2154
7B8259 = 489-3196
But confirm with your Cat dealer before ordering.

1/4" key stock works well also.
