Cat thirty serial# tag

I have some serial # tags for a cat thirty (S 6348) that are pretty tarnished. They’re still readable but I’d like to shine them up. Anyone know of a safe way to do this? I don’t want to damage these tags, as they are the 2nd to last ones in 1927 (S 6349 being the last). Any help is appreciated! Thanks

There is a company that I follow on Instagram that I think will be able to help you with this. They are called Von Industrial, the specialize in remaking old tags like this and they do absolutely amazing work. They will even stamp in the original serial number. Check them out: www.vonindustrial.com  or follow them on Instagram @kingtutley
I attached a couple samples as well of the workman ship that they have.  It really is great work in my opinion.

Try cleaning it with white vinegar you may need to soak it.

white vinegar works well but takes time. you could also use brasso or autosol the secret is use 2 rags one to apply one to remove. if you use vinegar you need to passivate it after wards so id doesnt flash corrode. bicarb soda will work for that and then spray with a clear sealer or lacquer.

Thanks! I’ll try using brasso. Vinegar might cut through better but Ill use that on some other tags that I don’t mind experimenting on. I also have some tags for our high ten that are in roughly the same shape. If I remember, I’ll send pictures when they’re all shined up.
