FYI After cleaning the pony tank on my D4 with Muriatic acid and thoroughly rinsing there was a light rust film forming almost immediately from the evaporated water. I then rinsed it with acetone and it stayed nice and clean after that. I also let the sealant dry for a week to make certain it was cured but that may have been overkill.

Thumbs up the the RED COAT brand. I rebuilt a D4 7U diesel tank last summer. Lots of pin holes under the seat cushion after sandblasting.  I cut out the bad sections and TIG welded in pieces of sheet but still kept finding minute pinholes with the soapy water under pressure test.
Put that Red Coat in there sloshed it around a bit and let it set out in the sun to dry.
