Hi, John.
I knew straight away where to look for it. That collection of photos has been around for a while now but still good to see to remind people just how hard it is to be TOO careful.
Apparently, the operator had parked it to take a 'potty break' and it wasn't where he left it when he came back. Funny that, how some people jess cain't leave things alone.
You can see the bucket wheel operator's cabin on the far side of the boom and wheel and he probably could not see the D8 through the wheel 'coz it blocks out a fair bit of landscape.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

looks to be just a new cab and she'll be back at work next week.
dont you hate that when your cat rolls over. i shared a photo ages ago of a telehandler laying on a car. they got to close to the edge of the float and she rolled over for a belly rub.

1. That's just straight up karma, cuz last week the same D8 had a picture of it on top of a 72 Nova. 🤦
2. First thought was joyriding teenagers.

My favorite picture in this series is when it's back on the ground, and there is just a group of people standing around looking at it, trying to figure out what in the heck they should do.

Revell makes a huge model of the 289 excavator but I don't think it includes the D8!!
That huge excavator series is now in the mid 290's. That would have been no easy trick to dislodge and remove.
