In this case, the tank itself is toast, no loss there.

Quick picture of what I whipped up so far, drew it in acad as a net, bottom with 4 sides and top with the 5th side and threw it across my plasma table. With the two tanks sitting next to each other I think I made the outside edge too tall may not tuck under the hood. I might have to cut a bevel out of that corner to hide it up under the there. I'll post more pictures as I get further may be back to the back burner for a bit

Made some progress yesterday, machined the filler neck, left it long to be able to determine final length after getting the tank mocked up in place.

Was starting to think about it, let me get mine done first, like I said I may have to take a chamfer out of the outside top edge to tuck it under the hood and if that's the case I would obviously change the cad drawing to account for the different shape before I cut out the net on the plasma table. And also let's see what mine costs. I'll report back as I make progress. Thank you for the compliment.

nice neat job as well Reisingerweld
-is stainless that tough to bend? that you need to cut a kerf along the bend? to make it fold properly?
-or does it makes a better final product? rectangle/square etc?
-i always thought bend before cutting...? one of my basic rules of fabbing...
always dropping GOLD, all you have to do is just pick it UP !

I will definitely agree with others, that is a NICE job. I know of nobody else that has made a pony gas tank for under the hood. Hope you are able to fab more to sell. JM

The kerf just makes it easier to bend, and keeps things true to each other a little nicer. I was able to bend the walls all up with very little force, so little I wasn't expecting it on the first side and almost broke it off.
Always leave your bending for last, it's much easier to cut a flat piece of material clamped to a bench or what have you just like it's also easier to fixture something flat into other machines such as a drill press or mill. Once it's bent into shape it becomes a nightmare to hold it without damaging the shape. Obviously this takes more layout and forward thinking to know where the hole will land after it gets bent up
Thank you everyone for the compliments.
