This Spring 1944 photo shows bulldozers at the Engineer Depot, Thatcham, England in preparation for the D-Day invasion, 6 June 1944.

i had a friend who unloaded an rd6 onto some kind of landing craft from the side of a ship. he said they lost many dozers over the side trying to get them ashore because of the rough sea. he also told me a few stories of driving the rd6 across france and into germany

his tractor was equipped with a cable control and a bulldozer blade. i think i remember him saying that he occasionally pulled an artillery piece but i think that was rare. pulling stuck trucks and equipment pushing damaged equipment from roadway and clearing bombed out buildings from streets along with just about anything you can think of.
