did the D4 7U increase in horsepower as the series matured?  lets say a 1957 model five roller D4 compared to a 7U of earlier years?  did the transmission group stay the same all the way through?

Speaking of the D315 engines, I can notice a lot of difference in the horsepower and sound of my 112 3U (1949) and my D4-7U (1950) particularly the RPM's. 112 much higher pitch.

Thanks OM.

Old Magnet, footnote # 12, I assume* must be the break between 955C and 955E at 12A5793? that's good to know the rack setting are different. Thank you.

Phildirt put the shift pattern just above where he wrote "I mostly see...." There's only one shifter, and instead of a fifth gear, it has LR and HR
