Does the 977k series all use the D333? Did it become the L when they went to the 3306?

Correct, L's came out in 1978 with the 3306 at 190 hp, K's were built from 66-78 at 170 hp

The 977K (11Kxxxx) started out using the D333C (4-3/4" bore)
At s/n 11K3919 it became the "L" series ( still using the D333C)
The 3306 engine came in at s/n 11K5083-up

Thanks for the responses. 11K3817 will before sale near me this spring and seems to be in decent shape. Would only be using it to occasionally load trucks out of a fill dirt stock pile and maybe clear trees from time to time. Seems more financially justifiable than anything with a rear engine. And comes with a Cat dozer blade.
