Yep, that 'sinking feeling' can happen pretty abruptly here on Santa Margarita Ranch too. It's happened more than once that a machine has driven out into an area and all seemed well. That changed the moment they tried to reverse out of there. The machine just plain dropped through the ground anything up to about 2 to 2 1/2 feet with NO warning. The top layer of earth just turns to soup after it has driven over once.

We have some black soil patches here that can be traps too. And stay RIGHT outa the gullies around here when it's wet.
