Lazy governor / sticky fuel rack D2

Hey all, after a long sleep my D2 3J is sluggish, and after removing the cover(s) for the fuel rack and linkage they seemed almost stuck . I lubed them up and work the back and forth.  Tractor starts and runs but clearly the governor is slow to respond to loads . Thoughts or ideas or prayers ?
Gov. Does work, but very slow.

I learned the rack compartment is dry on the d2 ( thanks Pete) so I’m not sure where the bind or gum up is.

correct me if im wrong, there is no oil in the governor housing on this D2. ( well, there is NO oil in there and i dont think there should be )
maybe im wrong on my part description....

when viewed from the left side of the tractor what i am calling the governer housing is to the right of the injection pump.

Hi Tognot,
the housing on the rear of the injection pump is the Governor control and is dry as you say.
The actual governor is in the engine timing gear case and the injection pump rack is ultimately controlled from there by rods between the units.
There is a small rectangular cover below the fuel tower that you can access the rod and you can check here for binding and to do some lube here as well as the rack and rack bar slides with thin oil or penetrant.
Some penetrant in the rear Gov control housing would help too.
Some initial Gov. sluggishness could be likely from cold sluggish oil in the engine that should warm up and the Gov begin to work correctly.

thanks for clarification. if i remove the cover on the fuel tower, is that sealed ? so I wont dump the fuel tower contents ?

Hi,
the cover on the fuel tower lower outside face has a single centre bolt to retain it--should be no fuel behind this only engine oil mist from memory that drains back.

I have a 955C that had a bad seal and had some old diesel fuel and condensation in the Governor control housing which had gummed up things.
I know the governor on the 955C works differently but a bad seal can leak fuel into the housing and could create a concentrated rusty goo. It is good to look but when I looked/"drained" the governor housing some some old fuel goo had gotten on my arm and I receive a nasty chemical burn.
Just 1¢ worth .... sorry, but I had to buy a vowel 😲 a "Y" it's only sometimes a vowel so I just paid a penny for it.🤣😂🤣
