1. Members reward for getting new members signed up. Maybe give recruiting member $10 to get a new member into the fold or hold drawing for prize for most new members recruited per month or year or whatever.
2. Use a "come on" for a trial 6 mo membership for $20 (Electronic only)
***Great idea Jim. I passed that thought on several times in the past, without success. Any incentive would be nice, it does not necessarily have to have any monetary value; even an "honor roll" atta boy/girl each month/quarter/year for each person that recruits a new person, and may even mention the new member with the person that "sponsored" them to join up. That would not cost any $, just a space or even a page in the magazine.
I used to get a warm and fuzzy feeling about getting new members signed up, but that has fizzled out. Aside from attempting to boost numbers, I have lost any incentive to do so. Period. JM

One thing that I had suggested in the past is getting the club magazine into the local Cat dealership sales/parts lobby. I took some of my old magazines into my local dealer and they had never heard of the club or knew that it existed. They were impressed with the magazine and let me leave them in the waiting area for people to read. This gets exposer to a group of people who may be most likely to spread the word or join. Just a thought.

***That has had success here. I asked the board to ship some issues and membership forms/information sheets on the "club". They sent me a USPO flat rate box full of goodies to share. I wish to say that cost was less that $15 USD at the time, which wasn't a deal breaker. You a very correct, many of the young parts counter kiddies never heard of ACMOC, and were snickering, but intrigued by the old iron. I watched some old hands that only worked with classic yellow iron, and they did not know of the club either. When I do go for part$, they will remind me that they ran out of magazines and such, asking if I brought any more...
If memory serves me correctly, I learned of this group when I went into a Peterson dealership. There were a couple of magazines laying on the counter for people to browse thru...
Anytime we show CATs, I always try to bring these items and feedback seems positive.
***Reminder*** I am low on materials, send more please!!! JM

Hi Bruce,
Thank you for your contribution. Again, it's an excellent idea and it would be quite easy to do a "Pilot" with one or two co-operative dealerships to see if it was cost effective.Magazines do cost us money to produce although we often have old copies which are surplus to requirements and could probably be used in this way. We certainly have the new "Primer" leaflet (see below) which could also be used.

Hi JM,Fat Dan: Another idea/thought that "I wished I had thought of that first". Here we go again! That idea was passed up the food chain, and the response was dead silence.
I wanted to (suggested) a raffle at a national show, people could either buy a ticket/tickets or if you bought a membership, you would be entered into the drawing, some device to where you would be drawn into the club, and reeled in sort of speak.
Give the donor a receipt for fair value (tax purposes ya know)(an incentive to "donate") or if it is an all cash raffle, the seller could get some $ back out of a hunk of iron they do not wish to own.
We used to do all types of fun games/raffles at waterfowl dinner functions, and it added quite a bit of $$$ by the end of the evening. The best part was, everyone had a really enjoyable time participating in such. I also realize there are some folks that view a raffle as a form of gambling, which is against their beliefs...
The donor can drop tractor off at a "show" and its up to the winner to get it home; If that cannot be arranged, they can always donate it back and raffle it off again?
I like your idea Dan, lets see if anyone is paying attention at the wheel. JM

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
