I just finished setting the fuel injection pump lift settings on a 4U D-2.... now I would like to check the fuel rack adjustment... Can someone please post a picture and/or Cat part number for the gauge used to do this. Thank You, Wayne

The Cat rack setting gauge is a 3H1690 and you set it in where the an inj. pump is removed and is timed like the pumps by lining up the notches so is very easy to use and set up. If your engine has a 9F4113 nozzle the setting is .285 and with a 4F4236 nozzle it,s .215 and the high idle for it is 1690 RPMs and with the 9F4113 nozzle it,s 1710RPMs. Both are 550 RPMs idling

Hi bcwayne,
The 3H1690 tool is pretty pricey....over $300 as I recall.
I do have one you could borrow if you like, along with instructions.

If the setting has not been touched then it should be ok if the tractor ran ok before. It is bolted and a lock on the shims and flat spring that the stop arm goes up against.

FYI for those interested in this tool... I just called Cat and found that the last listed price for the tool is $ 377.00, and it is discontinued and unavailible.

That's true they rarely change but worth a check. The biggest hazard is when parts get changed from some other engine.
When ever your ready:)
