That's terrible news Hudson, can you tell me where the accident occured? I certainly didn't see anything in the local newsHello ACMOC Members
We are grieving in the breaking news that earlier today (10am NZ time) long standing ACMOC member Hugh Chisholm, 54 yrs was killed in a work place accident. (He operated a business cutting farm hedge rows using a John Deere Tractor with mid mounted cutting blade).
Hugh was a virtual Foundation Member of ACMOC, joining following the advert in the HCEA magazine. He was thoroughly "Highway Yellow and Green", and was an oracle on Caterpillar Tractors of the classic period - post war to 1960. He collected NZ Caterpillar tractor serial numbers with a passion, and helped many owners to breath life into long abandoned D2 's or D4's, providing advice and assistance on magnetos, starting motors and bleeding injectors, as well as general encouragement to all Caterpillar owners.
Hugh's knowledge on Caterpillar Tractors was encyclopaedic. He had memorised part numbers and service bulletins from reading parts books as a teenager.. He has been robbed of the joy of restoring many caterpillar tractors in eventual retirement, a decade hence. He never did get to visit the USA or celebrate the centenary of Caterpillar in 2025. His friends have been robbed of an unassuming man, who gave generously of his time and knowledge, who never spoke ill of anyone. A true gentle person and gentleman. He leaves a widow Karen, and step daughter Megan, both of whom he loved with devotion.
Attached are some photos depicted Hugh Chisholm in characteristic Caterpillar poise. I would ask you all to say a prayer for Hugh.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
