Gents,
I have come upon a situation that I need to purchase a clutch friction for my late model 5U D2. Disc p/n is 5F7434 or 6Y7162 but the places that I have heard are most econmonical to contact for are Regal or General Parts are both out of stock with no eta for stock replenishment. I have heard Cat wants $500+ for this discs.
Any other places I could contact to get a good high quality disc at a reasonable price so I can get a tractor running and out of a very understand ing friends yard
Greg

Hi Greg,
Check with Don or Bill Austin. There is a place in Salinas that has them, don't remember the price but it was only a few bucks more than General Gear.
Whoops, that was for the D4, don't know for sure about the D2 but worth a check.

This is where I got the main clutch disk for my D2. Only have 30 hours or so on it so far, no problems

Fist one was damaged, sent a replacement without question. Would work with them again. Tim

Do you even have the metal disk or just a fiber plate? Most any automotive friction shop can reline the metal plate or even put a new plate on the center spline etc.
I believe most industrial clutch suppliers can match the outside and inside dimensions of the fiber disk type, but someone on here got one and it was too thick. Not sure if thinner ones might be available.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

There is a place in Fresno called Fresno Friction, that can reline it if the disc is not damaged, just in case there is no one in ol San Juan area.

Greg, I just brought one from Off-Road Parts,i think their in Tenn. The phone # is 865-379-7895. I price out Cat also and like to drop dead when the parts man quoted me the price. Off-Road price I think was something like $150 but don-t hold me to it.

HiCrop10, Thanks for the lead with Off-road Parts. They had multiples of the clutch in stock at $150 so I nabbed one and have it heading out west second day air.
Soapy, I Googled Fresno Frictions and found Valley Friction parts who rebuilds steerign clutches and brake s and they did not have a d2 clucth.
