Ok so I found this add that had 2 J series D2s the guy told me he was using the one with the good undercarriage pulling a plow when the crank broke. So he bought another one that had a warn underciage that ran really good. So I drove down to look at them and bought them on the spot. The rails on the one he said had a good undercaragiage measure 3" the rollers and sprokets have been rebuilt (really good jod too). The chains are true Caterpillar. What is warn out? the rails on my other D2 are at 2 7/8" and the 22 is about 2 3/4". I didn't really need the parts but how can you pass that up? Still need to get the other chassis and the two engines home.

D2 Undercarriage specs....
Old Magnet, I was always under the impression that 2 and 3/4 inches (2.75 inches) was the service limit on the rail height on a D2 chain, and this ties up with the reference below (1/4inch maximum wear from new)? Your specs above tells me that 2.69 inches is the service limit?
