Good Day folks,
My D4 7U 36219 seems to me to have low fuel pressure, or at least the gauge says so. I don't yet have the blade on my machine as I am waiting for my hydraulic cylinders to come back from the rebuilders. I have only driven it around the place and other than slobbering a lot it seems to run ok. My fuel pressure gauge has not gone over 1/3 way up. I fear that under a load it likely will fall off to the point of cutting off. I really don't want this to happen while on a hill or some other inopportune time. The shop manual tells of tamping the seal in and so forth. I don't have tools designed for this and was afraid to take it apart. What suggestions do you folks have? Is there a replacement pump, is it rebuildable in todays climate? Do any of you know of anyone that rebuilds them? What should that cost? Any suggestions are welcome. Elton

Hi Elton, a data point for you - my D2's pressure gauge barely reads at the top of the Caution when running but I've had it loaded up plenty (standing on the brakes for a good 100') and the tractor doesn't seem to have any issues, so perhaps it's a combination of the gauge reading low and/or there's plenty of reserve capacity built in

That is helpful, but my fear is heading up one of my rather steep fire trails and having the engine stop due to a lift pump problem. Thank you Neil for being there early for nearly every question I have asked, it is much appreciated. Elton

A club member close to you may be able to rebuild it. I could do it, not sure what shipping would be. The worst thing is and almost always the shaft will be bad and the housing and plate may have to be resurfaced. It can get pricey for the parts too, just a warning. Another plan is if you can get a rebuilt one from somebody.

So Rome, where are you? One of the things I would like to see with this forum is to include where members are located. Maybe I am too nosey, but I would really like to know where people are.

Hi Elton, hover your mouse over that "upside down" droplet under your name on the left where it says "Registered" and it gives the general area. For example, when I hover over yours, I can see it says Roanoke, VA.

Hi Elton,
Take a look at the Chapters page (not the Chapter News on the forum), click the second from the left black box near the top of the screen entitled "Chapters" and you will see an interactive map showing members locations down to the nearest town. See below.
You can zoom in on particular areas.

ours reads in the cuation range at idle and doesnt rise much higher than that at full revs and we have had it loaded almost till stall pushing timber. any good diesel injection shop should be able to rebuild it for you. parts are available from the dealers. and these old girls are pretty simple if you can give them the service refference for the engine and fuel system they should be able to do the work. and the dealers workshop would do it for you anyway.

I do believe squach235 on youtube or Toby has done a video on doing that exact job with part number and what to look for. he is rebuilding a hole D2 on video and does a very good job of showing what is needed to do the job right with no corners cut. I guess that's why he was ACMOC member of the year a few years ago.
