I'm the proud new owner of a '47 D2 4U (4384).
It has a straight blade, driven by a front hydraulic pump that's buried in the hydraulic oil reservoir, under the protective grill.
Does anyone know what kind of flow rates and pressures this thing might have? I'm guessing about 10 gpm up to 3000 psi?
I note that Northern Tool has hydraulic motors for $104, and I have dreams of making hydraulic-motor-powered gadgets.
Further:
10 gpm at 3000 psi works out to 17.5 horsepower. If I can stop the diesel engine with the hydraulics, does this imply that I'm only getting about 20 hp out of my 61 year old engine?

They used the #44 Cat Hydraulic Unit.....low pressure, high volume. Hydraulics were not really all the well developed at the time. Also they used vane type pumps which slip at low rpm and reduce the cold starting load.
There was also a #41 Hydraulic unit of considerably less flow but would be a little slow for the regular straight blade unit.
