Hello;
Can anyone give me some information about a Caterpillar engine, model #M238 ??   It runs a HUGE snow blower on an "old" truck I am looking at.   Thanks!!!

Hi, I think the number you quote is more likely to be the serial number rather than the model number of the engine. How many cylinders does it have?

I just have the info given to me by the auction company. Not actually seen it in person yet.  The truck engine is Caterpillar 1693 and the engine on back, running the HUGE snow blower says is Caterpillar M238. I have the only bid of $150 on this unit. To be sold in 2 days.....

If you can get them to send a couple of photos of the snowblower engine (each side), someone will be able to ID it

Cheers,

For that era it could have a 1673 V8 or possibly a 3408, those blowers took some horses!

We do have a service manual for the 1693 truck engine in the library...
