Hi

Looking for part numbers for dozer tilt cylinders.  preferably part numbers for individual parts.  First though I think I need to indentify the part number for the cylinder I have.
I could not find any part numbers on the cylinder itself.  I have attached some pictures of it.

Can any one identify it, or give me a list of possible Cat Part Nos.

Well, I know that cylinder might not be found in a D2 or D2 attachment parts catalog. Pretty sure the toolbar arrangement didn't include a tilt cylinder. Any chance of asking the previous owner?

That is an after market cylinder. As Neil stated there were no Cat tilt cylinders for a Cat tool bar dozer. I made a tilt cylinder for my tool bar dozer from a cylinder off of a fork lift boom tilt cylinder. You might have to take it to a local hydraulic shop to find parts.

Pretty cool though, and that is a super tidy arrangement for the host connections - I like tidy, clean installations like that - it just about could have been OEM except Cat would have had some clunky hose arrangement instead

I kind of figured it was either home made, or aftermarket as Cat always put part numbers on everything. Has an odd C-clip partly hidden behind the end housing which needs to be released as you pull the housing end out. Having a hard job getting it out, perhaps the housing is getting stuck on rust. letting it soak for a few days.
Thanks for the replies!

You might have to drive the end housing in a little to get the C clip out.

Unfortunately the C clip won't come out without the end housing coming with it. If you notice the kind of D shape to the end housing, that is where you can get the tool in the holes to collapse the C clip, but it won't come out as there is about an inch of housing in the way. I can try driving the housing in a bit to see if that loosens things up, so far I have been just using the plunger as kind of a slide hammer to work it out, but only moves about 1/4 inch. Hard to manage with one person, but I will keep at it.
It is weird, usually the C clip is right on the outside.
Thanks

I'm sure if you take it to an hydraulic shop, they'll be able to pull it out no problem. Even though they're supposed to be the experts, it always seems to me that they have the "right" solution every time

the housing came out pretty easy after soaking in penetrating oil for a few days. Just sprayed some around the housing and let it sit.
