Several questions.... I need a little help identifying two Cat No.12 motor graders as best as one can...
one looks to be a c.1954 .... from what I can see it is an 8T w/D318 (S/N put a pin in that for now)
the second one is a c.1938 ... from what I can see it is an 9K ... thinking the engine is a D4600.
Short video of them and it will show why I can't get to the S/N
I'll post some pics from the video
1954 Cat 12 8T
cat1938 9K
cat1938 9K

I think you are correct regarding the 8T - it looks very similar to my 1956. With the only thing that looks different being the air cleaner, it looks like its maybe been updated to a dry filter element style.
Is the other one is in fact a 1938 - that is the first year for the No.12.
Hard to really tell until all that snow melts off.

What's the rush? Not like there going anywhere.
9K's run from 1938 to 1945 then became the 7T 1945 to 1947, all with D4600's.

Thanks for responding ... I saw the air filter right away and thought the same thing .... found out the Ol' boy that owned them in the 70's n 80's had a construction company and somehow I came up with a ton of spar parts for those old girls that I got from an unrelated auction (so I thought). It was ment to be. The 38 needs the pony rebuilt and it just so happens I have the parts I need to fix it
Looking for some snowshoes ... It hit 45*F yesterday wont be much longer.

Thanks for weighing in
Old Magnet ... You been talking to the guy I bought them from?
"What's the rush? Not like there going anywhere." Because Jimmy said the exact same thing with the same inflection.LOL It's like a kid with a new toy and you can't play with it.
AND the other thing is you answered my question before I asked it... You been at this awhile, I can tell by the grease under the fingernails and the callouses on your hands
My way of saying Thank You.

Well I found a number for the 8T ... I think ... (8T 01230 - 1954) there was a note in the margin the first page for the 9K & 7T "Parts Book" which came with both the 8T & 9K.
Dose this sound right?
the 9K 09320 would be close to the end of that variant run (679)... 9K 02854 ~ 9K 09999
