My on the job measurements worked to 1 1/2 but I got a used , maybe 50% rollers from the local Cat dealer. I think its more important that there all consistent.

Do you have a copy of the numbers for the berco parts?

I expect they will be prohibitively expensive, if available at all. It'll be interesting to investigate. Currently a good set of used ones (as above looks like my best bet).

No kidding fellers! What I thought would only take me 45 minutes became a tad longer than that! I had to wire the end caps/shells together as well. One would be amazed how precise fitting they are as well. No room for any error, at least on mine anyways... Not to discourage the original poster, Malvern, but unless he really likes getting down and dirty, it isn't all that fun. My clothes are ruined from rolling around on a cement slab!
I may have a new addition to my kitty family, which will require all new bottom rollers. If that happens, I am splitting the tracks and I will flip the frame upside down.

Here in Oz new Berco chain for D2 costs around 600 quid a side, plus the grouser bolt holes are larger, 1/2", instead of the original 7/16", so you have to drill all your track plates to take the larger bolts, PLUS, buy all new larger bolts and nuts, there's another 150-200 quid no doubt.

The used tracks on fleabay at 495 quid are your cheapest and easiest option, and if dirty bottom rollers annoy you, keep your eyes open for someone wrecking a D2 with good rollers underneath it, but I suspect that "new" used chain will resolve much your issue for you of pin bosses getting tapped, 100% worn rails is 2.75" on the D2, 3.00" is new spec, just use a thicker lube in your rollers.

I am going to most likely take some flack for this but when running an undercarriage to death and the rollers are hitting the pin bosses, and if you do not care how things look, take the cutting torch and reduce the diameter of the roller flange to the point that it is not hitting the pin boss. It has been done more than a few times.

There is no difference in ride. The links are softer material and slowly roll out flat. It is when the roller flanges get down to the hard pins that problems ensue.
