For a 9U find a D5 double element dry cleaner they will pickup some power and keep your engine cleaner PLUS back in the day they would get more Hours between overhauls!! Some of these old oil bath cleaners get the screens plugged with dirt not Good, I have hot tanked them before to clean them up. I have made this change several times. You wil NEVER be Sorry!!! I would not think about running oil bath cleaners again. 17afarmer

Be aware that dry air intake filter elements have a shelf life of about a year. I'd recommend you stay with the oil version of only occasional use.

Hi Team,
Product Bulletin March 01 1960 gives data on the dry air cleaner field conversion amongst other data.
Alas I do not have a copy of the Special Instruction Form No 33577 mentioned for fitting instructions.
I also wonder if this unit might fit on the U D4--depending on clearance to the steer clutch levers etc.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hello OM, just curious about the comment about dry elements only lasting a year? Never heard that mentioned before. Perhaps my purchasing nos cat filters at farm sales for my older cats is poor idea? All 5 of my 9U’s have been converted to D5 type dry elements, most likely when the turbos we’re added. Thanks, Mike

Hey Mike, would you mind throwing a few pictures up of your 9u's ? Im interested in seeing how they look with the turbo and upgraded filter setup. What turbo was used ?

John Deere has the same stipulations, replace every year, Never mess with the secondary filter, Clean with air max of 6 times per year and of course replace it if there are any holes in the filter.

anyone have any recommendations on an "intake heater" like the attached picture ? would be going in the intake piping where the pony exhaust entered/exited to preheat the intake air a bit... 24v would be nice but im guessing that will be hard to find...
