Hello, looked at a hot rodD6 9U. Engine tag was 62U5 power plant. I could not find any info on this site about it. It is a 6 cylinder engine, similar to a D333 or 3306. Turbo and precup glow plug engine. Tractor been setting 20 plus years so I want to figure out what it is before I make an offer on it. Thanks, Mike

62Uxxxx series is a Military D333C engine (4-3/4" bore).
Would be interesting to know what all had to be done to fit the engine installation.

Thanks OM. So would that likely be a generator power unit? Any idea on horsepower rating or rpm? Tried searching the internet various ways for D333c military specs but struck out. Safe to think that parts will interchange with other crawler tractor D333C? Thanks again, Mike

Throttle governor housing is unpainted aluminum so likely that was changed. Drive shaft appears longer than an original 9u. Did not notice any other transplant details.

Most all of the farming was done with crawlers around here before large wheel tractors and rubber belts took over. Scrap iron has claimed a lot of them but a lot of farms still have one or two setting around. Tractors seem to have a way of finding me, ha ha

Ratings are all over the map. Compared to an early 66Dxxxx (D333C) engine the industrial version is rated from 175-250 hp w/o fan at 1500 to 2000 rpm. The Gen set version 135 - 190 hp for the same rpm. Nothing unique about the Military version, parts will interchange.

A 62U is a D-333C used in a military truck for the army called a GOER I think they were around 215 HP.
