Hello to everyone.
I've been working on the 22 and need some help/advice. Attached pic is of the heat indicator P/N 4B266. I am in need of the nut P/N 5B1959 and/or information on what the thread on the outside of it is. Thought it was a 9 or 10 , but on mine their is so few threads left it is hard to get a good spot to match up the threads to a gauge. Is the part still available? Anyone know the thread size, so I could make a replacement? What is the best way to go about cleaning out the threads in the head section? I don't want to screw this up any further than it is.
Thanks.
Perry

My D2/3J takes the same nut. I believe the 5J takes the same also. You should be able to find one on this site. I bet alot of other model cats used the same nut also. It's a longshot, but you could try Cat. Still might have one left on a shelf somewhere. Go to the vendor list on this site. Lots of people to call there for the part your looking for. Hope this helps:)

I checked is my high SN D4 6U book and it is the same as your part number and by memory most the tractors in that era used the same adapter nut as yours so I,m sure Cat would stock them yet.

Hey Perry with all the parts Cats on this list I'm sure there is a few of these floating around. I probably have one laying around that I'll send you if no one closer steps up...

Good news. I ordered a new adapter nut from Cat today. $9.00 Less than I thought it would be. On the Neg. side. The WBParts link did not pan out very well. They have a $300 min. It took 4 e-mails, before they told me that.
The other e-mails were to verify info. I had given them, when I filled out the registation the first time. Maybe it would be different if I was ordering $50k of parts, but.... Thanks for trying Bruce. Thanks for the offer Carl.
Now I just need to come up with the thread size for the nut, so I can clean out the thread in the water jacket.
