Thank you for your response and phone number.
The plug was in the cavity when I opened it up on a previous occasion. After you sent the parts breakdown I ordered the seal (o-ring) from caterpillar. Now the plug is not in the cavity and I don't have a clue where it may have move to.
I will order a new plug and install it with the new seal.
Thank you for the help.

Possibility it got shoved in farther? Stuck on the cover? Installed it, pressure built up, popped it out and fell in belly pan before you got the cover on? The cover on yours looks like it has a dimple in the middle on the outside, maybe different than what the parts book shows?

Thank you for the input. I will look in belly pan to see if plug fell out as you indicated.
Will keep you updated next week.
Have a safe and great weekend.

Took your advise and went under dozer to rear belly pan, didn't find the plug. We had rain the last five days, when it dries up I will spend more time looking for plug.
Again, thanks for advise.

IHM used parts does not have plug. Parts person tried other sources and reports plug is obsolete.
Any other suggestions or thoughts?

Looks like it wouldn’t be hard to make one.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Talk to john at General gear and tractor 208-342-8911 ,maybe he can send you the whole relief valve or the plug if he has a 173B unit there. Might not be hard to have made also.
