well i have decided to put the new seals in the steering clutch area and fix up the tracks and front idler. so i removed the 2 pads where the master link is and went driving until they were even. drove THE HOOD in to the shop and popped the master pin. of course my little shop is too short, oh well, LOL.

we are even going to replace the wooden top roll. the old one will heat the shop a couple of hours, LOL

on the steering clutches, how many inches of discs and plates do i need. we went thru this last year but i forgot. the joys of getting old, LOL

Must be a warm front up there to be working with the barn doors open... Always tough to work on cats that need tracks pulled, they always double the space required.....

i'm finding it easier to work on the cat with the tracks popped off, the steering clutches turn easy. with the little 922 loader, track work and such is easy. the 922 lifted the back of the d6 9u up for the blocking. getting smart in my old age, LOL

New clutch pack thickness is 3-5/16 in. Replace at 2-!5/16 in.
Takes 24 #2F8621 bimetal discs and 24 1A3987 steel plates to do both sides.
Often the metal plates can be reused.

Best source I know of is www.steeringclutch.com (General Gear)
or I believe Regal also has them and probably a little cheaper. Sorry can't vouch for Regal quality but I have been well satisfied with main clutches from GG.

PS. GG also has brake relining kits at $42.00 per side and steering clutch springs at $4.50 for outers and $3.00 for inners.

all my cats have windshield and they are handy for pulling the steering clutches. only in the KINGDOM, LOL

Hi there K.O.O. I have been doing a bit of track splitting myself this week , it started off on Thursday at S.E.Davis's Yard ,pushing out master Pins that have not been moved for 60 something years ,I used a bit of hydraulic power for this task, then had a night-mare fight to undo all of the track frame bolts ready to pull the sprockets next week.
On Friday I was called to a private Landfill site to "pop a new track adjuster seal into a Komatsu 210 excavator" , when I arrive at the site it is "HISSING DOWN WITH RAIN" , sat in a 4+4 near it are to young chaps and lets just say they got my back up from the start , one was puffing on some sort of sheroot that smelt a lot like the egg a Dog lays, the other was stone deaf as he insited on having the Wireless on full throttle, what a "DIN", then they called me "Old Man", anyhow they had managed to drop the track off in the biggest swamp of crap possible, now I could have pulled this Machine onto good ground and done all the work in comfort , but these young Puppys' kept on the pressure of anoying me , so I fixed the Banger in the swamp with there help , the look on the Cigar smokers face as he held the drift whilst I charged at it with the " BIG HAMMER " near made me cry with joy, any how after the job was all done and all 3 of us are plasterd in crap , the Father (Owner) turns up looks at his 2 Knackerd out sons then looks at me ,overalls off sipping tea from my flask , then says "thank you Tony for what you have done" I was not expecting him to say that?????
