My father has three d-6 cat tractors. None are running at this time. He is building one good machine from three, one engine is running with starting fluid,or gas soaked rag. I am to the conclusion it has a fuel problem... does anyone know what the supply pump pressure should be? Factory guage is broken. Also, any idea how to remove the suppy pump? It moved it 1/4 inch and now it seems to be catching on something. I have checked injector lines and not getting a high pressure spray. We have pulled sock filters and cleaned fuel housing. Any and all tricks would be appreaciated.
May your tractors always be yellow,
Chris

About 15 PSI is pretty well for fuel pressure to run and if the pump stud nuts and bolts are loose it should let the transfer pump come down but maybe first remove the hour meter as something might be causing it to bind for whatever reason and then see if the transfer pump will come down out then.

Cowboy,
Just did mine awhile back and seem to remember that the bleeder line along the back needed to be loosened at the top to allow the transfer pump to 'drop down'. Just a thought...
