i have a 1957 d69u does it have valve stem seals also what is valve clearence setting thanks jw45

The valves get set at .010" cold and as far as I know they normally never used seals on the stems.

I believe it's 0.010" HOT or add a couple thousandths if you're doing an initial adjustment on a cold engine.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time:D

Your right CC it is hot but you very seldom set them hot so cold is .012" my mistake as I didn,t read all the spec. article in the operators manual.
