Hey Gang

I'm looking to insure my grader so the Sheriff won't hassle me when I'm out on the Counties roads doing their job for 'em (they won't grade the roads around here..."no money"). Haggerty won't touch this thing. State Farm laughed. Allstate (who I have car insurance through) said he!! no!

I got away with "collectors insurance" on my Farmall. I just called my weekly road dragging a "parade" (hey, kids came out to watch!). :p

I shudder at what commercial insurance will cost...

Thoughts? suggestions?

Thanks in advance

You might try Gulfway Insurers Bayonet Florida 800-940-5010.They insure historical vehicles,it is worth a try or another laugh.Knowing our fine friends in California you will probably have to license it and put lights on it too.

I'm in California......which is another problem! Google turned up plenty of hits but so far Cali is a dead zone for farm insurance (which is odd...we have lots of farms here)

Still looking though.

I already plan on putting lights on it...brake lights too! It has a triangle.

I already had some crackhead almost plow into the back of my Farmall H....and I was towing 1500 pounds of road drag/sled with big orange cones and reflectors all over the d@mn thing! (two 10' sections of 110# railroad track under a mobile home a-frame tounge/hitch. + a few bus brake drums piled on top)

I could only imagine them not seeing a bright yellow Motor-Grader!

At least if I get hit on this I'll have the engine and rear wheels/axels between me and some bong huffin, cell phone yakkin, starbucks slurper in their cr@pcan Geo Metro.

This has to come under the heading " No good deed goes unpunished" I put a slow moving vehicle triangle sign on my equipment and call it a farm vehicle and all my stuff is insured but probably not for highway use. Another thought is to talk with the head of your county road dept. and see if he will give you a letter saying that you are volunteering service to the county at no charge and also ask if the county will insure you for someone running into you. I have had letters of this kind with the USFS in the past. Never had to take advantage of it but if someone was going to sue me they had to sue the USFS.
