Hi. Maybe someone can save me alot of pain and suffering. I'm trying to pull the trunnion ball plates from a 82j D4D tool bar machine and replace them with ball plates from 83j standard dozer. I've pulled all 8 bolts from each side but they won't budge. There are 2 places that look like 2 bolts from the inside but there are no bolt heads. They possibly could be plug welded to the track roller frame. I'd like to get these off without destroying them as someone might need them. thanks for your time.

The tool bar trunnion mount plate is 8-bolt although there are more taped holes in the track truck behind the mounting plate. There really isn't any access (or a least very difficult) to get to the inside back so as you suspect someone has either added additional bolts and holes and welded them or plug welded as you say. The addition of plug or perimeter weld was pretty common when bolts got stripped out, wallowed out, sheared off or just to lazy to tighten them.
Should be able to torch out the plugs and weld up extra holes good as new. (mag drill would also be an option)
Getting the special bevel head bolts out without breaking or stripping them is a real accomplishment. Had to use my 2500 ft-lb hydraulic impact to remove some
(after breaking some with the manual cheater bar method....too much bending, not enough torque)
Had a late night afterthought. Those plug welds might be dowel pins that appeared on later models. Guess you got them off all right, I saw your for sale ad.
