I just ordered from CAT the four Roller Bearings for the steering clutch release arms for my D$2T, (part number 3B570). I have a parts book Form 8480 that has the prices, weights for the parts in the book as a part of the index.
This book was published in March of 1944 and lists the price as $0.68 per bearing. Today, these will cost me roughly $23 per bearing.
This is a pretty helpful publication as it also gives the manufacturer's part number as well. For instance the Hyatt number for this bearing is 94726... It really helps when doing price comparisons. I just called a local bearing supplier and he was a dollar over the CAT price. He was a couple doallars over the CAT price on the thrust bearing for the steering clutches. CAT seems to be pretty competitive on bearings...
Anyway, I thought it might be interesting to know some of this info...
