I took a piece of 3/8 or so rod and welded about 8" of light chain on the end(rod welded to center of chain). Feed the chain into your tank, chuck it up to a VS drill motor and hold on!

Rattles it so good paint falls off the outside!

Also let it soak with citric acid for a couple days...

I have used a product called Plyobond made by Goodyear. I have slushed Plyobond in gasoline tanks thirty years ago and they are still ok. Last year I did one on a pony motor and put a one inch tube in the fitting on the bottom of the tank that goes to the settling bowl. No problem ever getting water or junk in the carb, but it makes it harder to drain the tank at the end of the year.
