my fuel tank has a lot of contamination! there is no vent ,should there be. it seems to sweat a lot on a hot day even leaking fuel around the filler cap, why is this i try too keep it toped off, if i dont i get condensation just above the top fuel level, whats the best way too clean the tank ,i tried muaratic acid or pool cleaner and steam once before,

The cap is made for a vent so maybe the parts inside it are shot so they show new parts in the parts book so try your local Cat dealer for them. There have been guys on here that have cleaned tanks and also they used a paint type of sealer to cover the inside of it esp. if it,s rusted bad so I,m sure someone will chime in on the process and cleaning process for it.

thanks for the reply sj,i know about the vent in the cap i put a new one on and a new seal and the problem seems to be the expansion of the fuel when it get warm,that tank just bakes out there in the sun and makes condensation,thats why i keep it topped off, i have seen a short extension that goes where the fuel cap is its about 3 in. tall have you ever seen these , also does any know the correct procedure for adjusting the steering clutch on a 955 85j. thanks for any help anthony
