Diesel power since 1925??? I don't think so? The Diesel Sixty was the first in 1931 as I recall.

That name plate looks real good but not historically accurate. Caterpillar as a corporation was formed in 1925 with the merger of HOLT and BEST. Caterpillar introduced it's 1st diesel tractor in October 1931. Benjamin Holt registered the CATERPILLAR trade mark in 1910. I hope that isn't a mistake made by someone at Caterpillar and now being sold on the tool chests they sell thus misinforming people about their history.

You're spot on. It looks like they were trying to say too much on one plate. IE Caterpillar was formed in 1925 but when they added the Diesel Power on the same line it gets confusing and appears to state the diesel came along at the same time. Or maybe whomever designed the name plate didn't have a clue when Cat started using diesel engines. One would think more thought would go into a name plate on a Snap-On box.

The plate is being sold on Ebay. About like some of the remake signs listed, not genuine.
